Frequently Asked Questions

Hiring our lovely light up signs: Want to know more?

Here at Words To Glow we are always up for a little Q & A time. We realise you may have additional queries in regards to our illuminated letter hire and we have tried to cover the key points below. However, if there is something we have missed, please contact us and we will be in touch with a reply ASAP!

How big are the letter lights and how do they work?

Each of our letters stands at 4ft x 2ft high and are daisy chained together so only one plug socket per word is required.  For every booking that requires it, we will also include a 5m long 4 point extension lead to power the lights with.

How much does it cost to hire the letters/signs?

Please get in touch with your requirements so that we can supply you with a price

Are they safe?

Completely! We use low wattage LED lights which do not heat up like normal light bulbs so they are extremely safe. Each electrical connection is fully PAT tested.

Can I have them in more than one choice of colour?

Currently, our bulbs are available in the one colour: warm white led. Our mini light up letters come in white cabochon (carnival) bulbs.

Where is it best to position the lights?

In the best interests of your party goers we ask that the lights are positioned against or close to a wall or backdrop to ensure they do not get knocked over and accidentally damaged. This is also to ensure the wires supplying the light source to the letters are safely tucked away out of sight!

How long do I get the letters for?

You can hire all our letters and signage for an agreed  24 hour period. Any additional hire period must be agreed and confirmed ahead of the function date in writing/email with Words To Glow.

By hiring from Words To Glow you agree to take responsibility for the letters and their safe keeping and therefore must not lend them to a third party during the period of hire.

What happens with delivery & collection of the letters?

Door to door delivery & collection is included in the price quoted for the hire of your letter lights within a 40 mile radius of Manchester M30.

(Please contact us for additional mileage costs beyond these distances).

What if a light bulb blows?

The bulbs used in Words To Glow illuminated signage are LED low wattage and therefore long lasting.  Prior to each event we will ensure each letter is in full working order before delivery.

We will also supply spare bulbs in the highly unlikely event that a bulb blows. Any spare bulbs MUST be returned back to us.

Can we have the lights outside?

Unfortunately our lights are presently designed for indoor use only.

What safety standard do the letter lights meet?

All of the lights are PAT tested on a yearly basis and meet the required safety standards.

My venue wants to see insurance certificates?

No problem! Give us a bell and we can forward you confirmation of our insurance certificate.

Can I purchase your letters?

Not right now. At present, the marquee letters are just for hire.

When do I need to pay and is a deposit required?

Due to the popularity of our big letters we do require a fully refundable security/booking deposit of £50 to secure them for your date and to cover any accidental damage or loss of the letters whilst out on hire.

We will send you an invoice for the hire cost which will need to be paid in full at least 6 weeks before the date of your event. Payments can be made using PAYPAL, BACS or via cheque.  If we have not received payment in full before your event we reserve the right to retain the £50 booking deposit and cancel your booking.

Cancellation

The £50 security deposit to confirm your booking is non-refundable should you need to cancel. The remaining balance that is due 6 weeks before your event date is refundable up to 14 days before your event date. Any cancellations less than 14 days prior to the function date will not be refunded.
