So, I guess we can say autumn is finally here….The leaves are falling, the temperatures are slowly dropping and I have finally dug out my woolly pullovers and winter boots. Cue crisp early morning walks through the park and cosy nights in with a glass of wine round the fire!

However, what does the onset of autumn and winter mean for anyone planning a wedding in this most beautiful of seasons? Vintage inspired weddings are wonderfully still very much on trend. As a lover of all things girly and glamorous however, it is very exciting to see inspiration out there for vintage weddings with a definitive classical twist. Think timeless and elegant DownTown Abbey and you are pretty much there! <3

Getting us even more excited, is the beautiful use of colour this season can evoke. Forget traditional thoughts of burnt oranges and winter browns. For me, the autumnal colour palette of choice just has to be burgundy red. Burgundy red or marsala as it is often called, looks simply fabulous and works great as a colour combination alongside the other ‘in’ colour of the season grey.

This is certainly a theme that could be taken to the max. Vintage china, sparkly lighting such as gorgeous drop leaf chandeliers, sparkly light up letters and stunning 1920’s inspired beaded lace gowns. Be sure to thread aspects of this colour scheme throughout your day from the colour of your wedding bouquet, to the colour of your groom’s suit to the subtle detail in the pretty vintage china used.

The beautiful thing about choosing marsala or burgundy as your wedding colour is that it works equally as well with gold as it does with grey or silver. The richness of its colour really screams glamour and sophistication from the initial outset. The burgundy bridesmaid dresses in this mood board have been clearly coordinated with others in a pale pink to add in that little bit of colour variation to the scheme.

Including your colour scheme in little details like the wedding invites really threads the colour throughout the whole feel of the day, and gives your wedding guests a subtle hint of what is to come.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the colour of these wedding shoes! How simply stunning would they look peeking out from underneath your beautiful wedding dress?

This gorgeous season brings with it some beautiful options for autumnal blooms and foliage. I personally love the addition of berries and wild heathers that can be chosen for your wedding bouquet.

The way this floral crown has been designed to sit at a jaunty angle is simply stunning!

Cute as a button little bridesmaid dresses in purple or burgundy tulle make your little ones look like fairy princesses. Wedding breakfast menus, guest favours matched to your chosen colour and gilt table numbers complete the look.

The colour can also be carried through to your crockery or if your groom wishes, he can choose to make his own style statement in funky choice of footware and tie colour.
