Whether you’re planning an event right now, or you have a BIG occasion on the horizon, here at Words To Glow we are delighted to impart a few of our own tried and tested top party tips to you to really make your occasion go with a swing!

Numero Uno: Give yourself plenty of time and don’t forget the detail.

Think ahead. Planning and coordination is essential no matter how formal or informal the event. Keep yourself from stressing in the months leading up to your soiree by having an event check list. Consider an ideas/mood board to coordinate and pull together the key elements for your special event and most importantly, enjoy the occasion. Everyone including you wants to have fun at a party!

Dancing Queen

The type of music you choose for your event can really influence the feel and vibe of the whole party and make the difference between THE party to remember and just another get together.

Perhaps you are looking for a jazz quartet to provide a relaxed backdrop for your cocktail party or a funky swing band to bring a little retro flair with music from bygone years. Or maybe you’re a secret rock chick who loves nothing more than to rock out to the sounds of Iron Maiden and Def Leppard. Whatever your bag, make sure your music also fits with the taste of your party guests….the last thing you want is ‘Murder on the Dance Floor’ !!!

 One cup or two…?

Use your imagination when it comes to serving up the party drinks of choice.

First impressions can make all the difference. Consider vodka jelly shots for the men and a signature cocktail for the ladies upon arrival as a funky alternative to your traditional glass of champagne or prosecco.

In addition to the drinks you choose to offer your guests upon arrival, always ensure to include an appropriate amount of wine and beer should this be your guests’ favourite tipple.

Always have plenty of water (make it special by serving sparkling water flavoured with lemon or lime) and at least one other non-alcoholic option such as a fun and fruity ‘mocktail’ for the drivers and younger guests at your party.

Deck the Halls

If you want to give your venue the truly personal touch coordinate the room with your chosen colour, mix and match, or coordinate loosely to a specific theme. The options are endless…

For instance, use white or cream table linen and add a splash of colour with your choice of table runner and organza chair ties. Consider using bold and vibrant colours that really give impact and give your venue the added ‘WOW’ factor! Black and white, fuchsia pink and turquoise, silver and black all scream ‘Look at ME!!’

To add a feminine touch, why not consider adding floral decorations for an intimate table centre piece. Keep it simple by filling a round glass vase with pebbles including a statement flower or candle for added impact. Any leftover fabric from your linens can be tied around your vases to tie in with your colour scheme.

Let there be LIGHT!

Nothing says ‘boogie on down’ or sets the mood for a romantic and intimate soiree than the right type of mood lighting.

For maximum impact, choose lighting from a least three alternative light sources. For instance, to create a romantic glow at an evening cocktail party, hang fairy lights, light the fire and place cosy tea lights and candles strategically on tables and on shelves.
