Autumn. One of my favourite times of the year. The beauty of the leaves in their annual kaleidoscope of fiery autumnal colours. Added to this, the weather is still pleasant and mild enough not to warrant 4 layers of additional clothing before venturing outdoors for a breath of fresh air. With thoughts of a longed for Indian Summer gone, the summer wardrobe is packed away and the winter boots are on. Time for cosy knits and the occasional umbrella (just in case)!
Autumnal weddings of course, are now increasingly popular, due to the promise of mild days and the draw of beautiful local scenery. If you are planning a wedding for this time of the year, lucky you! Read on for our favourite colours this season. Scouring our favourite pin board app for autumnal style inspiration, I happened across this delectable colour combo – Teal and Copper. This truly is an ingenious colour pairing – the vibrant teal hue really packs a punch against the metallic shimmer of the copper highlights. Perfect for the new season, it reminds me of the gorgeous colour changes present in Mother Nature at this time of year and crisp autumnal leaves.
Teal and Copper
Copper has very much been the go to metallic for Spring and Summer 2018 and when teamed with zingy shades such as teal, it’s true versatility shines through. I particularly adore the princess style to the tulle skirt featured above and the sequin applique and copper waistband make it truly something special and unique. Teal is the perfect accent colour and can serve to define your place cards or add detail to your wedding cake as in the picture shown. This cake just looks amazing sat atop the reflective copper cake stand, lending a touch of glamour to what is a delicate and feminine cake.
For those of you who love a touch of drama and are not afraid to be bold, this cake certainly makes a style statement. The slight marbling effect is really on trend and the gold edging and contrasting flowers really make it a worthy centrepiece.
Orange and Red
Combing bold orange and red with teal is a choice that undoubtedly would not appeal to every couple planning their special day. However, I think the look could work really well in certain venues.
For me, it evokes images of a rustic country barn wedding where the warmth of the barn and its timber walls would immediately be complimented by the richness of these bold and vibrant colours. It certainly reminds me of Harvest Festival time and the colours of the great British countryside. Strategically placing seasonal fruit and fresh foliage along your trestle tables and interspersing this décor with gold candles of varying heights and styles is certainly a stylish and relatively cost effective way to decorate your countryside wedding.
Another striking colour that I am always instantly attracted to when looking for inspiration, is black. Before you shriek in horror and run for the hills, let me explain. Black is a timeless base colour for many memorably classic wedding colour combos, and here are a few illustrative examples.
Ivory and black when teamed with vintage gold accents always remind me of the fabulously chic 1920’s. It is a look that would suit a multitude of venues from stately homes to ever popular city-centre industrial spaces. Seasonal foliage in colours of brown and cream added to cascading table centrepieces lend an autumnal feel to this colour scheme. The addition of cosy tartan throws in matching colours as shown not only echoes the colours in the floral centrepieces but lends a welcome and less ostentatious feel to the décor.
Of course, opting for black in your wedding colours means you can go all out in your choice of attire too. Fabulous bowties and black tux for the groomsmen or black belts and braces with a smart silk gold tie are a must. Bridal gowns with the addition of a delicate black velvet bow can look amazing too.
Adding delicate baby pink to black and ivory instantly softens the scheme and is the perfect go-to look for those who want to add a sense of romance to their wedding décor. To make this scheme work, the décor needs to be floaty and delicate, and this applies to the bridal attire right through to the choice of floral arrangements.
This gorgeous wedding backdrop with delicate floral arrangement is a showcase piece and the perfect décor choice for behind the top table, at the head of the wedding aisle or showcasing your wonderful wedding cake. It also serves to be the ideal opportunity for many memorable wedding photographs too.
Here at Words To Glow, we are also delighted to offer a choice of two wedding backdrops for hire.
Amara Circular Wedding Backdrop
Our new circular Wedding Backdrop is called ‘Amara’. So named because it means ‘beloved’ in Latin or ‘eternal’ in Indian. Either way, we believe the name is rather apt. The circle has long been a visual representation of eternal love as signified in the exchanging of rings in marriage. We believe our newest backdrop is therefore the perfect sentimental addition to your special day.
Featuring a silver metallic nickel circular frame complete with beautiful artificial hanging wisteria foliage and delicate micro fairy lights. It can also be hired with our copper metal ‘Always’or ‘Forever’ signage hanging from the centre. It is a perfect backdrop for your wedding vows, during your wedding ceremony or even to decorate the evening reception. It looks equally as beautiful alongside one of our most popular light up letter hires too.
Seraphina Wedding Backdrop
Finished in a metallic copper spray paint, our Seraphina Wedding Backdrop features rustic white washed pallet boards, dimmable vintage Edison bulbs and hanging copper tea lights. You can choose either to hire the backdrop with our beautiful artificial floral wedding garlands or, alternatively, hire it without the flowers and ask your florist to dress it for you instead. Completing the look and taking centre stage on the backdrop is your choice of romantic phrase (this is again made from steel and spray painted metallic copper).
You can choose from:
‘It Was Always You’
‘And The Adventure Begins’
‘You & Me’
‘Always & Forever’
‘To Have And To Hold’
If you are interested in hiring either of our backdrops, please do drop us a line at [email protected] or send us a message via our Contact Us page and we would be more than happy to provide further details.
